Canada Immigration applied for the Privacy Certification on October 1,
2007. The purpose of becoming Privacy Verified was to show all customers
that the information submitted to obtain a product was kept confidential
and not shared with any third parties. The initial thought was that many
customers were reluctant to purchase products online because they did
not know what would happen to their private information once submitted.
By becoming Privacy Policy Verified, Canada Immigration makes a
statement to the online community by showing its dedication to its
Privacy practices. Literally any e-commerce website can have a detailed
Privacy Policy, but if it is not enforced the customers' information
will be misused. This can be hard to proof and is not normally
discovered before it is too late and private information is
unfortunately shared.
The Privacy Policy Seal from Website Certifications Inc is placed on all websites related to the
purchase process so customers are reminded about the company's
commitment to privacy. The added verification has converted a
percentages
of potential buyers that would normally hesitate but decided to go ahead
with the purchase because of the verification.
Being Privacy Policy Certified did not increase the amount of visitors
to the website, but it did increase the amount of sales from the
existing customers. The Seal paid for itself during the first day after
we got certified, and we are currently looking into additional
verifications to increase the sale/visitor rate. |
